Obviously, the list is not exhaustive (you only have to go to the Comments section to see this). However, these really are companies that do not get credit for their contributions to open source code, unlike, say, Bell Labs. It's nice to see the reminder.

There are lots of great developers out there creating code and allowing its free distribution and use.  Here is a great article that highlights LinkedIn's contributions.
