Critical Thinking:
When someone connects to the Internet (s)he needs (he doesn't see it BTW) to connect trough different other service located in the US and somewhere else before (s)he gets his Internet connection (right!?), SO (s)he needs to pass through a lot of different services...
When searching a website on Internet one mostly finds some located in countries where "Security" isn't really taken that serious and one risks an infection of the connected device (right!?) when connecting device (computer, anyOs, SmartPhone, tablet, BYOD)!
Here is a list of the countries who host the most Malware on a global view:
I would wish to see the Day that when someone connects to the Internet I would see ===> YOUR visited website, blog (or other...) is secure! (without a Third Party Program!) Even if my connecting device would NOT be protected, in this case I would like to see displayed ===> YOUR connecting device is NOT protected! We suggest to YOU to check the following... to make it protected! <===
That would be what the Internet in 21st Century MUST be!

"Twenty years after the "big leap forward" in democracy, media pluralism is in trouble in too many countries in the wider Europe. Governmental or oligarchic monopolies are getting thicker by the year, and not only in post-Soviet nations but also inside the EU walls.
The burgeoning Internet-based media alone cannot provide for a functioning diversity of public opinion, and yet they are already under attack. This Pan-European Forum should pick the brains of all those concerned for the future of our shared freedoms, and move the European Union beyond non-intervention, to become a protector of media diversity in our nations."

The Commission services will lead a pilot Community of Practice with stakeholders of the internet/ICT sector,as well as any other actors with a broader interest. It is envisaged that such a pilot would provide by the end of 2014 the practical experience to decide how far any more elaborate arrangement could be needed to support a more permanent dialogue.

European Commission - Press Release - European Commission Press release Brussels, 19 November 2012
The teaching of IT, entrepreneurial and citizenship skills is fundamental for preparing young people for today's job market, but, in general, schools are still paying insufficient attention to these transversal skills compared with basic skills in literacy, mathematics and science, according to a new European Commission report. Part of the problem is rooted in difficulties with assessment.
===> For example, only 11 European countries (Belgium Flemish community, Bulgaria, Estonia, Ireland, France, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovenia and Finland) have standardised procedures to assess citizenship skills, which aim to develop critical thinking and active participation in school and society. <===
Such testing does not exist at all for entrepreneurship and IT skills in any of the 31 countries which took part in the survey (27 EU Member States, Croatia, Iceland, Norway and Turkey). The report also outlines progress in teaching six of the eight key competences defined at EU level for lifelong learning in knowledge, skills and attitudes.
“It is only by equipping children and young people with the necessary skills, including transversal skills, that we will ensure that the European Union will have the means to remain competitive and to seize the opportunities of the knowledge economy,” said Androulla Vassiliou, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth.
"This study shows us where there is room for improvement and, most importantly, what we need to do to create more opportunities for our youth.
===> Rethinking education, a policy initiative that I will launch tomorrow, will outline concrete proposals for doing this." <===

The economy of the future is digital. Already today it’s hard to think of many jobs where familiarity with computers and the Internet is not helpful: in the near future, 90% of jobs will require some level of digital literacy.
The answer is for every member state to have their own “digital champion” – a high-profile, dynamic and energetic individual responsible for getting everyone in their country online and improving digital skills. They would work with education authorities, industry, and grassroots activists; independent of central government, but reporting to it.
