We’ve been discussing blended learning in the Edudemic Magazine for several months but I had been struggling to find a video that helps explain what it actually is and why you should care. Then I happened upon one of the startups I’ve been watching. Education Elements has a terrific page along with a video to describe exactly what blended learning is, what it hopes to achieve, and what it looks like.

When I started playing blues songs for my first grade students, I never imagined I was introducing a fantastic launching point for thematic, standards-based teaching.
Lyrics are practiced daily in large and small groups to get the correct pitch, modulation, tone, syllabication, meter and phrasing. Children even sneak practices during free time. After learning the lyrics, students with creative dance skills choreograph the piece (without my help!) and we rehearse more. Then, it is a "gig" at a talent show, street fair or community event.

Audrey's curator insight,

This is what was found: "The students in the Independent Project are remarkable but not because they are exceptionally motivated or unusually talented. They are remarkable because they demonstrate the kinds of learning and personal growth that are possible when teenagers feel ownership of their high school experience, when they learn things that matter to them and when they learn together. In such a setting, school capitalizes on rather than thwarts the intensity and engagement that teenagers usually reserve for sports, protest or friendship..." Much of this can be started from the home environment. Curated for www.homeschoolsource.co.uk

Here you see some facts about how companies lack in security. Some points like file sharing and getting worms are a really big issue. If there is no protection against that the company may be in danger. If all people have about 3 devices and they arent protected, you cant stop this.

I think that people should pay more attention to this because there are more victims every day. Not only persons but also companies could get trouble with not paying attention to your data.

Im very afraid of losing data myself. I saw a commercial once that someone took over the identity of another person. I hope that people pay more attention and try to be more safe in the future.

This video emphasizes that relationships are important in the success of online learning. Social video technology adds more of a "human touch" to an online course. The narrator notes that layering videos with text supports students with cognitive learning disabilities. She also notes that the more informal ways of creating video and screenshots are more accessible to educators...which I think is true.
