We have been anticipating it for months. Rumors have been circulating throughout the entire first half of 2012. First, we learned that Microsoft had submitted a series of apps to the App Store for approval. Then, we thought we’d see an official launch alongside the new iPad. Even as recent as a week ago, we discovered that the company will be ready this Fall. Today, The Daily is reporting that Microsoft’s ultimate business package for iOS, Office Mobile, will launch on November 10.

This time around Stanford says it will use a peer to peer social learning site called Piazza to foster more community in the online class setting.
Stanford University is offering a free, online video course on creating apps for the iPhone and iPad this summer. It uses videos from Paul Hegarty’s programming course and was wildly popular in years past with more than 10 million downloads of individual lecture videos from the 10-week course.

Should we be concerned about the fact that today there are a great many students who already have phones, or iTouches or iPads with the ability to download whatever apps they need or want (and the accounts and means to do so), and, of course, many more that do not? "It requires structured thinking, ability to abstract details away, and there’s little margin for error--one little typo and your program might do something entirely different from what you wanted," says game developer Rui Viana. "The real world just doesn’t work like that, so it’s hard to get your head around it." Which is precisely why Viana created Cargo-Bot, a simple iPad app that turns "thinking like a computer" into a genuinely addictive puzzle game. It’s like Angry Birds crossed with Codecademy, and it’s total genius.
