Consumers are beginning to shy away from tablets, but detachable devices like the Microsoft Surface are gaining popularity.

We can't assume that consumers are beginning to shy away from tablets. Tablets have a longer life cycle than smart phones, and are often passed down to the kids. I have 2 tablets at home that are several years old, and they still work perfectly.
