Using Gamification in Teacher Professional Development | Educational Technology News | Scoop.it

"If you asked a room of teacher if they would rather work, play, or participate in professional development, professional development would likely come in last. Gamification makes some headway in K-12 classrooms

Gamification makes some headway in K-12 classrooms | Educational Technology News | Scoop.it

"The use of digital learning games in schools grew rapidly from 2010 to 2015, especially in elementary schools, showing that teachers are coming around to the learning benefits."

Bryan Hauf's curator insight, June 18, 2016 11:35 PM
It's great to see Gamification making some headway in K-12 education as I think it can have the most creative impact, but I think a distinction should be made about the different ways in which games itself are used in education. Gamification is not creating a game itself, it is applying gaming elements to an experience, in this context learning. Game-based learning is using games itself for learning experiences.
