From one of my favourite websites-The Digital Media Diet, a selection of quality book apps to now justify creating a real library of titles- especially in children’s picture book apps. Any library needs a good foundation! The list is in no particular ranked order, although it is broken up into categories to make it a little more user-friendly. Thanks Carisa Kluver for this one!

A decidedly low tech device, the humble pencil, is providing some tongue-in-cheek insight into current education debates via Twitter. In the past 24 hours, educators have tweeted the hashtag #pencilchat thousands of times. The tweets are undeniably witty, but they also reflect the frustration teachers feel over everything from schools' technophobia to budget cuts, which may make #pencilchat the best—and most clever—education allegory ever.

www.abcya.com has created a virtual set of fraction bars for the iPad. The app is free because virtual manipulatives alone do not provide meaning for learners; they also require a teacher to guide meaning and connections! But neither the less a great visual for sometimes a difficult concept.

Thanks to "The Nerdy Teacher's" Blog! Basically, you create a document using Pages or Keynote and email to yourself. You go to your email through Safari and access your email. In the email, open the document and it will take you to a new tab. From the new tab, it will give you different programs you can open the document in. Choose Dropbox and it will let you save the file in an existing folder or you can create a new one. The PDF is a bit more detailed, but it works every time. Give it a try!
