Valentina Osorio's curator insight, May 14, 2020 3:15 PM
This article catches my attention from the beginning. It is incredible to see how important it is to create some policies for grading students in terms of Equity. Nowadays, the situation about COVID-19 has developed some complicated circumstances since the classes have to continue. Besides, it is clear that exist many resources and many platforms that allow the process of learning even at distance, but what happened with children that do not have any technological device at home? or an internet connection? Teachers have to take into account that every family has a good economic situation to receive classes or materials. For these reasons, it is really complicated for us as teachers have the responsibility to grade someone who does not have the resources to do it. The educations have to re-evaluate this process in terms of virtual grades.

Grading & assessments are a hot potato in the field of education, as decision makers try to at once apply common standards, but also limit the amount of time students spend sitting assessments. Today we’ll look at how technology can assist teachers to streamline the process.
Mafe Dominguez's curator insight, April 27, 2018 11:51 PM
We need to do a good language assessment in order to guide our students to improve their language skills. In order to do a good LA we should select the most appropriate kind of assessment  depending on the context that we are working, we can select from portfolios, tests, oral presentation, quizzes or others; but we have to make sure that the kind of assessment that we select accomplish all the principles of Language assessment which are, practicality, reliability, validity, authenticity, and washback. We also have to follow the language assessment development cycle that should be taken into account before, while and after implementing the assessment. Its steps are Mandate, purpose, specs piloting, field trial, evaluation and improvement, administration, assessment and analysis, interpretation, decisions, and impact of consequences.
