Miriam A Gruber's curator insight, March 9, 2020 11:28 AM

I have never given much thought to this, guess I'm not much of a germaphobe, but with a possible pandemic brewing it did catch my attention.

It is a shame to think that the cordial hand shake will be phased out. You can tell a whole lot by the way someone shakes your hand and you can send a strong message by how you deliver your hand shake.

Maybe we just ought to have our hand sanitizer ready to offer and use ourselves? I bet the hand sanitizer producers, and the infectious disease health officials would love to have this become as common a the good old fashion hand shake.

I wonder whether the people in the cultures where a peck on each cheek is given upon greeting is now being phased out too.
