What is the minimum Technology Requirement for a classroom / learning space? is a question that I have been asked a lot – particularly back in the back in the days of Building School for the Future (BSF).

Great visual..not new information, but is a useful graphic to reinforce where we are in terms of technology integration.

The ASCD publish magazines for educators on important issues. This issue is on the use of technology.

This is an excellent article that essentially asks all of us - student, teacher, administrator (& even parent) to consider just what is meant by education. The technology available now prods us, forces us, to consider society... a world with different capabilities. It can be, as Mr Richardson says, additive - that is doing the old thing a new way (ironically using a biblical allusion of old wine in new wineskins - some things never change). Or, our reaction can be ecological, that is essentially changed. This may be a case of simultaneously being 'the medium is the message' (our tech forces us to do things differently, and 'the medium is not the message' ('he tangata, he tangata, he tangata - it is people, it is people, it is people'). Highly recommended. |

It's not about 'having' the technology in the classroom but using it to enhance the learning experience.

Technology is good, however we must slow down and give both teachers and students time to absorb; there's no hurry.

I chose this resource because integrating technology in schools is so important. This can be more then just the classroom. This can be dealing with cameras, telephones, smart boards, or other resources.. I hope that this article will help those in our profession understand how important implementing technology is, and the benefit that it brings to our schools.

Great article about how teachers should not just give their students the tools of technology, rather they need to have an understanding of technology themselves in order to give their students the best opportunity to higher learning.

All educational institutions need to upgrade and update their technology. This should be assisted financially by the government. Rather than interfere in actual teaching the ministers should ensure that education technology is actually available and accessible. As teachers never stop learning it is within their interests to keep themselves updated with technology which can help them to spend less time continually updating and trying to differentiate lessons for 15 or more students daily, weekly.... Perhaps if teachers were more valued there would not be so many of them leaving the profession.

All learning technologies have a place, but "technology' - in the form of a solution, support and application device or system "decays" over time. It goes from technology to facility.....and falls from the innovation spot that breaks it into use. That said, drawing with a stick in mud, once a real innovation to led to early man being able to convey and communicate is still relevant in some situations. Mind you, saying that, I have to refrain from pointing these things out in case the current Education Secretary here in england decides to add it to the curriculum ;-)

Nicely thought out. Experienced teachers understand the myths around teaching and this is a handy reminder how to not jump off the tech edge just because you can. Anyone ever watched endless PowerPoints?

A great starting point to introduce parents to the idea of Digital Citizenship. It is important to be aware of how a child's digital presence can affect their future.
