Digital Literacy Pair and Share discussing DL: Capabilities that equip an individual for living, learning and working in a digital society In my research and reading the term that kept coming up was DL. Let’s take some time to talk about this term. On your white card write down what comes to your mind when you think about DL. Then, find someone to share definitions with. Let’s start with some categories to help us define this term: From what you wrote and shared, what concepts fit in these categories? Foundational Knowledge: understanding underlying concepts of technology Contemporary Skills: ability to use current hardware/software, netiquette, basic communication online Critical Thinking ability: higher order thinking and reasoning skills, required for understanding and problem solving. Most difficult skills to teach and learn turn out to not be skills at all, but a combination of knowledge, skills and critical thinking ability that together make up a particular topic. 2015 Cengage Learning Computing Conference
