Massive Open Online Courses or MOOC as they are popularly called have started gaining momentum because of their tremendous reach. MOOC in India too is not far behind this trend. Aiming at large scale participation through the access of the web, this mode of education is trying to reach to the masses – especially those who do not have the time to attend a full time campus program.

Indians are one of the biggest consumers of MOOCs but in terms of producing these courses, it is not yet in the news. That may change however, with many Indian institutions working at offering MOOCs made in India. MOOCs or Massive Open Online Courses are open to all, in any corner of the world, mostly free of cost and online. What is revolutionary about MOOCs is that you can take courses offered by the best of universities sitting at home. All you need is an internet connection.
