One of the objectives of the ZEE process (Zonificación Ecológica y Económica) was to assist Amazon nations in allocating their public lands among different constituencies and stakeholder groups. The group with the highest public profile, at least in recent years, is the Indigenous people who have organised a highly successful campaign to assert their territorial rights and formalise their claims to their ancestral territories.

Southern Amazonia is one of the less-explored regions by anuran taxonomists. We describe a small new species of snouted treefrog, genus Scinax, from this region, from a fluvial archipelago in the Juruena River, state of Mato Grosso, Brazil."
