At TED2009, Tim Berners-Lee called for "raw data now" -- for governments, scientists and institutions to make their data openly available on the web. At TED University in 2010, he shows a few of the interesting results when the data gets linked up.

A great idea: educated people showing compassion, and a shotglass more than the usual amount of daring. Putting classes online for free, and using them for research to study how learning works, helps everyone. At the time of this video there were 43 courses available. Hopefully now there's more.

This is great idea of how to use free online courses-other than just for PR or community service.

I really like his "SOLE" concept. My students do as well. I use his "Whole in the Wall" concept to challenge my students to not wait for teachers when they want to learn something new.

Interesting site about young kids that have taken technology beyond the classroom and excelled. Would be great to show to a class to show what all technology can do and teach you. |
