What Makes Some People Exceptional and Others Just Accomplished? | Transformational Leadership | Scoop.it
An exceptional life demands that one find a cause in life's journey that warrants an immediate and sincere desire to champion beyond one's current accomplishments for a lifetime of transformational living.
Tyler Negus Snidow's curator insight, September 20, 2013 1:18 PM

Stories that reveal difference that defined... Martin Luther King.  The Eiffel Tower.  Benjamin Franklin.  Oprah Winfrey and more.

This is an attitude adjuster and a piece to refer to often.

Adriaan Wagenaar's curator insight, October 14, 2013 3:28 AM

Great read about finding your voice. Make it personal! There are many blogs, articles and books about Being Exceptional. And they all seem to copy the same lessons and well known examples.

Innovation Excellence - Fear to Innovate

Innovation Excellence - Fear to Innovate | Transformational Leadership | Scoop.it
What was I doing! How could I have been so cruel and naive to not understand the differences between people’s cognitive understanding of fear and their natural resistance to having a visceral experience of it!
Don Cloud's curator insight, September 8, 2013 8:49 PM

Interesting article ... the truth is fear is a part of all of us -- and the culture that leaders create and foster has a profound influence on how people respond to their own individual fears to push them beyond their comfort zone.  This behavior of accepting and leveraging fear is a culture that can be cultivated in any organization.

Rescooping ... so what kind of leader are you?

Sun Tzu ... “If you know the enemy and **know yourself**, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

If Westpac employees get in a lift with Gail Kelly they may just be asked to share the bank's 'elevator pitch'.
Trish Sadar's curator insight, August 16, 2013 9:22 AM

Absolutely excellent article that every leader should read!

Sharing the Vision so that each employees understands where the company wants to be, what success looks like, who their customers are, what differentiates their company's product/service, and then knows what they can do to contribute is essential.

What is that quote:  I tell you ...you may forget, I show you ...you may remember, however, when I involve you ...you will understand.

What do you think?

Make it a great day!

Don Cloud's comment, August 18, 2013 10:54 PM
I like your quote ... gets right to the heart of the matter! And I'd take it a step further ... "when I share our greater purpose with you ... we will believe"

Are you a pessimistic leader? There is hope.
John Michel's curator insight, September 5, 2013 10:53 PM

Leaders who feel their pessimism motivates employees to work harder will find it very hard to reach difficult goals. The workplace already has too many cynics and doubters. Leaders need to create a hopeful environment that inspires employees to do the impossible. These eight behaviors will change your workplace environment and help others see you as a more optimistic leader.

Don Cloud's curator insight, September 6, 2013 6:48 AM

Leaders exude eternal optimism, especially when faced with daunting challenges and problems.  But to clarify, it's not enough just to have a positive attitude -- it's more about shaping perspective and guiding people on what they can do to turn around a bad situation.  It's replacing hopelessness after getting knocked down with how to take the hit and then stand back up and fight.  It is in mobilizing positive action and direction that optimistic leadership works.

Bryce Wettstein's curator insight, September 15, 2013 9:18 PM
