Hey! Guess What?! Healbe GoBe won't be shipping on time

Hey! Guess What?! Healbe GoBe won't be shipping on time | Internet of Things & Wearable Technology Insights | Scoop.it

Healbe finished up its Indiegogo scampaign for its miracle, calorie-counting wristband on April 15 with promises to ship in June.

Well, after Healbe had teased that it would be releasing its June delivery schedule this week… it turns out we were right....

1.6 million smart bands shipped in H2 2013 | Canalys | Internet of Things & Wearable Technology Insights | Scoop.it

Basic and smart wearable band shipments grew dramatically in the second half of 2013. Fitbit became the new leader of the wearable band market, following the launch of its affordable Flex and Force bands in May and October 2013 respectively. At the same time, Samsung accounted for the majority of smart band shipments according to Canalys market estimates.

‘Samsung launched the Galaxy Gear with a major marketing push that gained significant consumer interest. Shipments of the device took Samsung to the top of the smart band category, though disappointing sell-through will necessitate more promotional activity in coming months,’ said Chris Jones, VP and Principal Analyst at Canalys. ‘Basic band vendors have greater wearable expertise and have shipped greater numbers to date, but smart bands are already growing faster. Increasingly, smart bands will adopt basic band features as the two categories converge.’...

TapTap Wristband Connects Couples With Wireless Vibrations - The Web Magazine

TapTap Wristband Connects Couples With Wireless Vibrations - The Web Magazine | Internet of Things & Wearable Technology Insights | Scoop.it

Nowadays you can reach whomever you want through various modes — a Facebook message, a tweet, a text message and a phone call, just to name a few. These all require you to look at a screen in order to process what another person wants to communicate.

But now Woodenshark is offering a device called TapTap, a wristband meant to help people communicate without the need of a screen. Targeted toward people in a relationship, the wristband allows users to communicate through — you guessed it — taps. One user taps the wristband and the other feels the wristband vibrating as it relays those taps....
