I recall being a student being so excited about taking a field trip to a museum which was 2-3 times a year in nearby museums'. Now with technology being so useful in the classroom students can now access to online learning by looking at live cameras or 4k quality videos of a museums or national monument. As young students you are curious to learn about the world and see its not only schools, houses, and park, but also natural wonders out there.

since I have been working in a private institute where we took students outside in order to have a new experience using English in different scenarios and now that we need to be confined and working from home, it was difficult at the beginning to replace that experience since we cannot go out with them; however, with these virtual tours, it is easy to plan activities by having fun and by knowing places in a safe way, where they can learn new vocabulary, also expressions, and to get those learners participating in these activities.

This resources can be used to augment student experience of history. Taking a virtual tour through the world's best museums can add new experiences and place learning in an authentic context.

Such a great way for students to be able to experience art and history from their lounge rooms or class rooms. Even after this pandemic is over, living in a regional town can limit students' access to amazing exhibits. Virtual museums can immerse students in the learning that is normally done on an excursion. This digital technology provides an experience at the augmentation level of SAMR - substituting a physical gallery for a digital one, with all the information readily available. But, virtual museums provide opportunities for teaching content in a digital and immersive way that would have been otherwise impossible in a regional town - redefining the way content is taught.

Put together Google+ and Connected Classrooms and the result is great virtual field trips foryour classroom. Today Google+ and Connected Classroom have launched this new iniative. To learn more head over to Connected Classroom as you have to submit an application to join. Your school will have also have to support Google+. With budget cuts in education this is a great opportunity for students to experience trips to locations that they may never be able to visit in person.

Great examples of taking unique spaces and places into your classroom. Ignite Your Audience is very keen to create an experience like this for the Macpherson Homestead in Carnamah, Western Australia. http://www.carnamah.com.au/homestead

Love the ideas this presents. I think Google+ has lots of valuable possibilities, if adoption can be found. Trying to tie it as another Facebook just won't work. They need to find their niche and adopt it. This seems like a great use of their resource. |
