Integration of #saas solutions in #martech is easier than ever - but I fear it may lead to an explosion of solutions and a master data problem @chiefmartec | WHY IT MATTERS: Digital Transformation | Scoop.it

Today, HubSpot announced a milestone of more than 1,000 integrated apps featured in the app marketplace for its CRM platform. The call to better integrate martech is being heard. As you may know, I joined HubSpot a little over four years ago to help grow its platform ecosystem. So I'm delighted to see this momentum build. And I feel like it's still in the early stages of what it will become. A huge 'thank you'

Farid Mheir's insight:

WHY IT MATTERS: so true, integration should become the primary focus when choosing a product. Every vendor now has a marketplace of pre-built integrations (hubspot has 1000+ it seems). So, integration is easy.

But there are caveats: where is the master data if you have multiple solutions? I fear this post does not provide an answer for this, I find, is the major long-term issue.

CDP Marketplace Circa 2021: let the confusion continue #CDP #CustomerDataPlatform

CDP Marketplace Circa 2021: let the confusion continue #CDP #CustomerDataPlatform | WHY IT MATTERS: Digital Transformation | Scoop.it

While CDP vendors may claim to do everything, the fact is they can’t.

Farid Mheir's insight:

WHY IT MATTERS: I like the way RSG bundles solutions in categories that make sense and often are unique in the research landscape (as opposed say to gartner and forrester). Yet their analysis, and this post, highlight that the world of Customer Data Platforms - CDPs - remains confusing at best.

There's been some interesting debate lately about CDPs vs. CDWs — customer data platforms vs. cloud data warehouses. If CDWs such as Snowflake, Databricks, AWS Redshift, etc., are becoming a universal data layer in companies, is there still a role for domain-specific data platforms, such as marketing-controlled CDPs? The short answer, in my opinion, is 'Yes, but it depends…' There is still a significant distinction between live business operations systems that run in real-time serving

Farid Mheir's insight:

WHY IT MATTERS: this post discusses the different customer data solutions that exist - customer data platforms CDP, cloud data warehouse CDW, customer relations management CRM - with all the similarities and overlap that make design of an enterprise architecture and selection of products for martech such a difficult task. The diagram I decided to feature here describes the 3 components of a CDP, which I thought was a required refresher for many (including me ;-). Thank you Scott Brinker.
