I picked the chart that shows the price drop of solar energy price because it demonstrates visually why we may now be at an inflection point. WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT Electric transportation may be the first in a series of transformations where energy production becomes low cost whith very high battery densities providing long term autonomy, an essential component of the mobile aspect of digital transformations.

This article is very good. It explains extremely well the economics of energy storage and how it can solve the green energy's major problem. It also shows how energy storage can save money by filling storage facilities when energy is cheap and draining it when electricity is pricey ( Time of Use Arbitrage).

Elon Musk announced Tesla’s home / business battery today. tl;dr: It’ll get enthusiastic early adopters to buy. The economics are almost there to make it cost effective for a wide market. And within just a few years, it almost certainly will be cheap enough to be cost effective for a broad market. Not a game changer today, but a shot fired in an incredible energy storage disruption.

WHY IT MATTERS: indeed a better place to start with autonomous electric vehicles appears to be a tractor in a field. And looking at John Deere over the past few years AI and big data are the way to go.
