La popularité des services payants de visionnement en ligne a dépassé pour une première fois celle des services de télévision par câble ou fibre optique dans les foyers québécois. L’enquête intitulée Portrait numérique des foyers québécois révèle en effet que 71 % des adultes québécois sont abonnés à au moins un service payant de visionnement en ligne tel Netflix, Amazon Prime ou Disney+ alors que 66 % sont abonnés à un service de télévision par câble ou fibre optique. L’enquête rapporte que le taux d’abonnement à un service de télévision par câble ou fibre optique a diminué de 6 points de pourcentage au cours de la dernière année et de 13 points de pourcentage depuis 2018.

Interesting question: what technology are we hearing about today that will actually be everywhere in 20 years? blockchain? VR? AR? metaverse? quantum? Pretty tough to predict. I put my money on blockchain + AR.

We won’t just connect the local online shopper to the local store, but also the local store to the online shopper. Content will increasingly become hyperlocal. Beauty Counter last month announced it was opening a live streaming studio in the back of its retail shop, clever use of retail space in a real estate market desperately looking for new uses of it.

WHY IT MATTERS: makes sense, turn your store into a broadcast studio and use your personnel to liveStreamShop to clients on the web and serve customers that drop in locally. The store reclaims a purpose, from a mini-warehouse to a service destination and broadcast center. This will require high bandwith, wifi or 5G and clienteling tools for vendors to answer client's questions about products, service or their orders. Fun times ahead.

WHY IT MATTERS: sharing content across different websites, eCommerce, in-store displays and new devices (ie. Alexa, siri) is difficult. This survey provides insights into the reasons why sharing is difficult. Be aware this is biased towards headless CMS, but the conclusions appear valid IMHO.

Audiences around the world are shifting their behaviors to be more mobile-oriented than ever before. But what are the underlying dynamics driving mobile media and app activity amongst consumers?

WHY IT MATTERS: mobile first is a reality, especially if you sell online, so you have to be mobile friendly and present. However, building an app is not a wise investment it seems anymore as people don't know how to find/discover new apps and only 32% download apps to their phone. My conclusion: make sure your technologies and designs are mobile friendly and embed your content in a s many popular mobile apps as possible - Facebook, Amazon of course but also others, see in the report.
