“Self-hosting” is a practice that pretty much describes itself: running your own internet services, typically on hardware you own and have at home. This contrasts with relying on products from large tech companies, which the user has no direct involvement in. Thus I find the suggested benefits, cost decrease, etc. highly doubtful for most "normal" organizations (I assume very large global orgs may see benefits but not in my backyard). Nonetheless the paper does bring value such as the use cases where AI can be applied most readily.

WHY IT MATTERS: this report from gartner review the top 12 buzzword you need to master for your geek xmas cocktail conversations ;-) As often with these, they are very generic and could end up being very difficult to implement. Nevertheless they point in the right direction, globally.
Put this all together and what do you get? If you are an optimist, the office of the future will be a spacious, collaborative environment that makes the commute worth it. If you are a pessimist, it will be a building full of heavily surveilled drunkards. In reality, pragmatic considerations—how much time is left on the lease, the physical constraints of a building’s layout, uncertainty about the path of the pandemic—will determine the pace of change. Whatever happens, the office won't be what it was.

As B2B buyers become more digitally savvy, they prefer less human interaction and expect more from their digital interaction. COVID-19 has accelerated this expectation. B2B buyers expect a similar shopping experience to B2C buyers.
